Shape Shifters Devlog #10


Hello everyone and welcome to devlog #10 for Shape Shifters, an indie Metroidvania about shapes! 

Today I wanted to share with you all what I've been working on recently. 

Combat Improvements

Nothing too crazy yet, but I have been revising code "under the hood" to boost overall combat speed and impact. Notably ive added a system which allows the player to take enemies up into the air and continue their combo from there. 

Im also entirely removing contact damage, but id have to play with it more to see the impact on difficulty.

I want the player to feel strong, but I don't want the game to feel so easy its boring. Its honestly really fun to try and find the right balance.

Game Polish

I know, I know, Ive been talking a lot about polish recently but it really is a huge factor. However, the improvements I wanna show you all today also serves as QOL! 

I've added a health indicator on the health bar so you no longer have to guess what your health is. Ive also added pop ups that tell you what pick ups you've received!

I really don't know what I was thinking as beforehand the player had to assume what these did.
